Avascular Necrosis

Avascular necrosis also known as osteonecrosis is a bone disorder in which the cellular components of the bone undergo degeneration due to a disruption in the subchondral blood supply. This condition mainly affects the epiphysis of long bones in weight-bearing joints.

The femoral head, knee, talus, and humeral head are the most commonly affected areas. The hip joint is the most commonly affected site in general.
